On Thursday 14th April, Harbour IT officially launched their cloud computing service offering with a little help from their friends – VMware, Cisco and NetApp.
Featuring guest speakers Dylan Morison (Cisco), Michael Warrilow (VMware), John Martin (NetApp) plus Harbour IT’s Adam Simpson, guests packed the room to gain an understanding of how service-based computing is changing business.
The presenters touched on the technical side of the cloud, explaining the Flexpod technology which combines VMware, Cisco and NetApp hardware. Harbour IT were the first cloud service provider within Australia to implement Flexpod.
Many business benefits were highlighted, as well as a brief case study on The Coffee Club, a Harbour IT customer who has recently taken the leap into the cloud.
Following the success of this cloud computing event, Harbour IT is looking to run it again in Melbourne in the coming months.

CLOSE CALL FOR COMSCENTRE IN QLD FLOODS
We were relieved to hear that business partner, Comscentre, has survived the flood.
Their head office, located in Milton Park, is surrounded by offices underwater. Fortunately, it was a condition of their recent move that the new office be located well above the 1974 flood levels and be in no danger of being flooded.
It’s fantastic to hear that their disaster recovery plan was quickly put in place and actioned without issue.
Our thoughts are with the unlucky ones in Queensland and encourage our customers, partners and friends to donate to the Premier’s Flood Appeal: http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/
